One thing that I remind younger gay men who may not be aware is how much porn has evolved since I was young. In the 80s/90s it was often "straight" men and there was not a lot of "intimacy" (kissing, cuddling, fondling, tenderness). Rough pounding and no eye-contact was the norm in many cases. I am happy that so much of the online porn (including "amateur porn" found on many of the portals and platforms) involves KISSING. that was not the case when I was a young person, yet it's what I enjoy the most. Despite many people claiming video porn is "toxic" and "harmful," I'm hopeful that so many queer people are seeing kissing, touching, and eye contact in porn, it's "normalized" that sort of contact.

Yes, I know the choking, spitting and other stuff is there—and can be quite satisfying as well, and I appreciate that it's expanded the flavors of pleasure—but the simple act of kissing was missing and now it's common. So I applaud that shift!

(seems I'd enjoy your pornversations so I'll have to be on the lookout for the next one.)

Interesting. I’ve had a lot of problems with gay art publication, deemed porn.

You say something important which bleeds over to gay art.

Art with two men isn’t gay. Art with two men kissing is slightly gay. Art with men having sex is gay, because gay is not same-sex friendship, it’s sex.

Porn amplifies the sex aspect away from affection, and it becomes transactional, in turn which isn’t particularly gay, the phrase is facultative homosexuality.

It’s a very delicate balance.

As you note a lot of visual porn from the 60’s 70’s to recent has been transactional. But in the late 70’s and early 80’s the proportion which was gay started rising.

I’ve been friends and acquaintances and sex partners with porn actors from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 10’s and 20’S - just had dinner with a Colt model a few days ago, my husband has been a popular porn actor. I’ve been in a lot of physique photography. I have friends who directed and did the photography for porn, as well as fluffing and other interesting tasks.

I have about 40TB of high quality porn I’ve collected and classified, all the output of several studios. It’s fascinating how it changes. It will be considered art in around 15 years.

Thanks.
